How can I save 14% on my accommodation when I book a flight?

The 14% off discount is an average discount based on the advertised package rates available for qualifying stays during the calendar year 2024 on Air New Zealand Hotels, as compared to the price of the same accommodation advertised separately as a non-qualifying stay. Savings will vary based on origin/destination, length of trip, stay dates and selected travel supplier(s). Savings available on selected accommodation only.

Accommodation savings will be available when you have completed your flight booking with Air New Zealand and follow the prompts to book accommodation. After a flight booking has been made, discounted package room rates will be presented, and are available to be booked up until the time of flight departure.

Alternatively, retrieve an existing booking and select 'Book a hotel' before the time of flight departure.

How do I access my package rate accommodation discount?

Please note you are only able to access the package rate discount online following the purchase of your flight. Certain restrictions apply:

  • The accommodation booking needs to be made before the time of flight departure
  • The primary traveller must be over 18 years old
  • If you have booked a return flight, the first night of your accommodation stay cannot be more than three days before the departure date of your outbound flight, or more than 3 days after your return flight arrival date.
  • The first night of your accommodation stay must be within fourteen days of the day your flight lands, if you have booked a one-way or multi-destination flight
  • Accommodation may only be booked for stays within 270 days from the date of your flight booking
  • Other reasons as determined by Expedia from time to time

What happens to my accommodation booking after a delayed flight?

If a flight delay will make you late to check-in to your hotel or other accommodation, let them know. If you miss your reservation or arrive late, you may be charged a fee, so be sure to let them know of any changes as soon as possible.

Will I be charged a cancellation fee for cancelling my accommodation booking?

While Expedia does not charge fees for changes or cancellations, they are required to pass along the accommodation's non-refundable rate plans or fees. Such fees are highest when cancellations occur within 48 hours of your scheduled travel dates.

Am I able to get a GST receipt for my hotel or accommodation booking?

Expedia, who are the merchant of record on the booking don't provide tax invoices with a GST number for prepaid reservations. If you select the pay later option and pay at the property, you will be provided a GST receipt a time of payment.

You are able to print a receipt of your booking, but it won't break out the tax component, only the information provided by the property which includes taxes and fees as part of the room rate.

You acknowledge that except as provided below with respect to tax obligations on the amounts we retain for our services, we do not collect taxes for remittance to applicable taxing authorities. The tax recovery charges on prepaid hotel transactions are a recovery of the estimated taxes (e.g., sales and use, occupancy, room tax, excise tax, value added tax, etc.) that we pay to the hotel supplier for taxes due on the hotel's rental rate for the room. The hotel suppliers invoice us for certain charges, including tax amounts. The hotel suppliers are responsible for remitting applicable taxes to the applicable taxing jurisdictions. We do not act as co-vendors with the Supplier with whom we book or reserve your travel arrangements. Taxability and the appropriate tax rate vary greatly by location. The actual tax amounts paid by us to the hotel suppliers may vary from the tax recovery charge amounts, depending upon the rates, taxability, etc. in effect at the time of the actual use of the hotel by you. We retain service fees as additional compensation in servicing your travel reservation. Service fees retained by us vary based on the amount and type of hotel reservation.

Can I spend my Airpoints on an accommodation booking through your website?

You can earn Airpoints on every hotel or accommodation booking you make on the Air New Zealand website. You can't currently redeem your Airpoints on an accommodation booking.

How can I claim missing Airpoints on my accommodation booking?

We add these Airpoints to your account at the end of each month, once you've completed your stay. If you booked a hotel with a 'pay later' option where you paid at the hotel, please allow 35 days following check-out for this to be credited to your account.

If your expected Airpoints don't appear in your account, you can make a claim up to six months later. Just complete a Missing Airpoints Claim form. Include any supporting documents to help us verify your claim with the relevant hotel or accommodation provider.

Koru Member Discounts

The "10% or more" discount is an average discount based on the advertised Member Only rates available for Koru members at selected properties, during calendar year 2024 on Air New Zealand Hotels. The discounts are available to logged-in Koru members and is applied to the price of selected hotels or accommodation (excluding applicable taxes and other fees). Prices displayed include the promotional discount and are per room per night based on two people sharing a room. Blackout periods may apply and a minimum stay may be required.
